All lessons are scheduled and held at Sports Express Volleyball Center in Mason, Ohio.

Learn basic or advanced skills from any of our qualified, experienced trainers. Instruction is given for elementary, junior high, high school, or adult players. Lessons are scheduled by the hour through the instructors.  Please fill out the form below and we will forward your information on to the appropriate instructor. The instructors will reserve the court time based on your needs and the availability of courts.   During January and February court space is extremely limited but we expect to have plenty of space for summer privates.

Jeni Case - Jeni played her high school volleyball at Seton High School where her team won the State Championship 3 times.  She went on to play at Thomas More College where she was a 3-time All-American player as well as the Communiplex College Sports Woman of the Year in 1994.  Jeni ranks 2nd in NCAA history for career digs in college (pre-Libero).   She is currently the Head Coach at Ursuline Academy where she has won 3 state titles.  She was runner-up for National High School Coach of the Year in 2009 and has been named Ohio High School Coach of the Year 3 times as well as GGCL Coach of the year multiple times.

Amanda Meadows - Amanda is the Head Coach at Kings High School and has been named Conference Coach of the Year 9 times.  She has coached Junior Olympics and run her own club for many years including Junior Olympic qualifiers for Nationals.  She is currently a manager/trainer at Sports Express and runs community volleyball programs within the Kings school district.  Amanda played in college on scholarship as an outside hitter at Brescia College in Kentucky.  She played her high school volleyball at Highlands HS.

Lisa Schaad - Lisa played her high school volleyball as a starter for 4 years at Lebanon HS.  After high school she played on scholarship at Western Kentucky University.  Lisa was named Team Captain as a senior and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Care Administration in 1996. Lisa was on the NCAA Compliance Committee at WKU.  Lisa is has coached JO volleyball for 10 years.  Four of her last 5 teams have finished 5th at the USA Nationals in the Open level.  Lisa was the Varsity Assistant at Ursuline Academy for the 2006-07 seasons and a CAP Level II and is certified as a VCS (Volleyball Conditioning Specialist) as well as manager at Sports Express.  She is currently the head coach at CHCA in Symmes Township.

Gene Toms - Gene played his high school ball at Princeton as an Outside Hitter/Setter and then moved on to play college club volleyball for the University of Cincinnati as a Libero.  He was a member the National Runner-up and quarter final teams while at UC.  Gene finished with a bachelors degree in Exercise Science and acts as Director of Strength and Conditioning for Elevation VBC.  Gene has been coaching JO club teams for 7 years and coached at McAuley HS for 2 seasons.  In the 2009-10 season, Gene's Elevation team finished 3rd in the Open level of the AAU Junior Volleyball National Championships.  He is also the manager of Elevation Volleyball Store.

Cheryl Korfhagen - Cheryl played her high school volleyball for Glen Este before moving on to Northern Kentucky University.  During her playing career at NKU her team won their conference title and Cheryl was named All-Conference.  Cheryl is the head varsity coach at Glen Este and has been in that position for 11 years.  She has been involved in youth volleyball as a coach at Glen Este Middle school, St Veronica and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Milford.   Currently Cheryl runs an intramural volleyball program at Glen Este Middle School for the sixth grade girls as she helps build a strong feeder program for her high school.  Cheryl is currnetly the coach of Elevation 14 National-2 who recently qualified for USA Nationals in New Orleans.

Mike Seibert - The former varsity coach at Ursuline and Norwood, Mike has been with us from the beginning.  A member of three hall of fames (Ohio Volleyball Coaches, Norwood Athletic, and Southwestern Ohio Volleyball  Coaches), Mike was the coach of a state championship team (1993) and state runner-up team (1995) at Ursuline.  With over 350 varsity wins, he was selected the Cincinnati Enquirer Coach of the Year in 1991 and 1993.  As a retired computer teacher, he now specializes in basic skill development and training.  Mike passed away in 2014 but is still remembered here as well as in many things that we do at Sports Express.

Greg Ulland - Greg has earned 9 Volleyball State Championships in Ohio.  In his senior year at Moeller in 1997 he was named First Team All-Ohio and MVP of the Ohio State Tournament.   Greg made his coaching debut at Mount Notre Dame as the Assistant Varsity Coach in 1998.  As a member of the Cougar staff Greg helped MND to State Championships in 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2006.  Greg returned to his alma-mater in 2002 leading the Moeller Crusader program to State Championships in 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2009.  In 2007 Greg left MND to teach Mathematics take over as the head girls coach at Sycamore High School.  Greg has been named Ohio (1), Southwest Ohio(4) and GCL(4) coach of the year and has coached over 60 players that have competed in NCAA Volleyball. 

Jessica Russel-Montgomery

Barb Beckelheimer - Barb played high school volleyball at Seton High School where her team won the Ohio State Championships 2 years in a row (runner-up sophomore year).  She went on to play at The University of Tennessee for one year then transferred to the University of Cincinnati and played 3 years.  She was team MVP for two seasons as a Bearcat.  Barb coached at Seton High School from 1990-1995 taking her team to the Regional finals two years in a row.  She has coached CYO volleyball teams at St. Susanna and St. Margaret of York.  Last year her 5th grade team made it to the big city finals.  Barb has also coached Club Hawk 10’s and 11’s club teams the past 3 years taking 2 of those teams to the top 5 at Regionals.

Kim Brewer

Kevin Tobias - Kevin played four years of high school volleyball at Moeller High School helping the team win state championships in 2004 and 2005.  Kevin then attended Eastern Kentucky University where he served four years with the Eastern Women’s Volleyball program as the student assistant coach.  In 2008, Kevin was selected by USA Athletes International to play for the men’s team in the Scottish Open Volleyball Tournament in Perth, Scotland. He helped the team go 5-0, beating the Scottish National Team in the finals.  After completing his bachelor’s degree, Kevin coached at Eastern Kentucky University as the Graduate assistant where he received his Masters in Safety, Security, and Emergency Management with a concentration in Homeland Security. 

Rose Grafton

Maria Pongonis - Maria is an outside hitter from McNicholas High School.  She played club ball for both Sports Express and Cincy Classics before accepting a full-ride scholarship to Ohio State.  Maria spent one year at OSU and then transferred to the University of Cincinnati.  During her time at UC she was named All Big East and ended up ranked 9th all-time for total kills, accomplishing that in only 3 years of play.  In 2006 Maria was named as the Communiplex College Sports Woman of the year for our region and graduated with a BA in Sports Biomechanics.  She is currently pursuing her doctorate in physical therapy and remains active in volleyball as a coach and player.   

Chris Lovett - Chris played high school volleyball at Moeller High School and won state championships back to back as a Junior in 2004 and Senior in 2005.  He graduated from the University of Dayton after serving as a student coach for the women's volleyball team for 4 years.  Chris now works in the health industry and coaches volleyball at MND helping the Cougars earn 2 state titles.  At Elevation Volleyball Chris coaches the 14-1 team who are Open qualified for USA Nationals.

Adam Goller - Adam has been coaching for volleyball for ten years and is the head coach of the Roger Bacon Boy's Varsity team.  Adam was honored this year as the 2009 Division II Boys High School Coach of the Year.  Adam played his high school ball at Roger Bacon as a middle blocker and then moved on to play college club volleyball for the University of Cincinnati as a right side.  He was a member the National Runner-up and quarter final teams while at UC.   Adam continues to play Open level USAV volleyball and competes in the Ohio Valley Tour in sand volleyball.

Kelly Byrnes

Mike Middendorf - Mike played for the Men's Club program at the University of Cincinnati as a DS.  He began coaching his coaching career in 1988 and has coached at numerous levels.  From 1992-1996 Mike coached JO teams in the U14 - U18 age groups and worked camps at UC and Miami University.  He then took the Boys Head Coaching job at Roger Bacon from 1996-2000 and also coached the girls JV at Roger Bacon in the fall.  More recently Mike has been coaching CYO teams for St. John the Baptist and has come back to Junior Olympics in the U12-U14 age groups at Club Hawk.  In 2012 Mike will coach an Elevation JO team and continue giving private instruction at Sports Express.

Marni Rhoads - Marni was a four-year starter for Castle High School in Newburgh, IN.  She continued her career on scholarship at Western Kentucky University as a middle hitter and graduated with a B.S. in Physical Education and Health.  In her senior year at WKU Marni was team captain and named to the All-Sun Belt Conference Team.  Marni’s coaching career includes an Assistant Volleyball coaching position at Western Kentucky for two years, head coach at F.J. Reitz High School in Evansville, IN for six years, and numerous clinics/camps for grades two through twelve.  Marni was also named Coach of the Year Reitz HS winning the school's 1st ever city title during her time there.

Amy Doran-Cooper - was 3 year varsity player at Ursuline Academy as an all-around player.  She was named team captain as a senior.  She also played club ball for Sports Express VBC for 9 years and her teams qualified for Nationals all but 2 of those years.  Amy continued her career at Miami University as a Libero and she graduated with a degree in Psychology.  Amy is the Varsity Assistant at Lakota East High School and coaches Training Teams as well camps and clinics at Sports Express.

Erin Schroeder - Erin attended Saint Ursula Academy and was a member of the State and National Championship volleyball team.  She is currently coaching at SUA as the Varsity Volleyball Assistant Coach. Erin played volleyball as a setter at the University of Dayton and graduated with a Bachelors degree in Electronic Communication. Erin's UD team was ranked as high as #12 in the nation.  While at Dayton, Erin received the following honors; Honorable Mention All-American; achieved the best record in Dayton's history in 2007 of 33-2; Erin was the second setter in UD history to achieve over 1,000 digs and 1,000 assists; won the Atlantic-10 Conference tournament 4 out of the 5 years being at Dayton; and hosted the NCAA first/second round twice.  Erin has coached at Elevation VBC for 2 years.

Katie Holly-Rhoads - Katie played her high school volleyball as a setter at Turpin HS on varsity for 4 years. She played club ball for River City and Cincy Classics qualifying for Nationals 3 years. She then moved on to Division II Lincoln Memorial University on a Athletic Scholarship. At LMU, Katie was a 4 year starting setter and broke the school records in assists in a year and assists in a career. Katie is going on her 3rd year as the assistant varsity coach at Kings High School. She has coached for Sports Express Blast for 2 years with her 14 Open team in 2005 qualifying for USA Nationals.  Katie plans on continuing her education in August to get a Masters in Kinesiology and Exercise Science while also getting her teaching certificate.

Brooke Maher

Katey Wygant - Katey has been coaching at Sports Express for three years.  She has been an integral part of Training Teams and individual lessons at Sports Express.  She is head coach Cincinnati attack men's league during club season.  She has taken her 17's to 4th place overall in the region and 9th place for her 18's team.  Wygant was a former middle hitter and defensive player for Xavier University, where she earned All-Conference honors three times and was one 11 players in school history to register 1,000 kills.  Katey graduated with a degree in Communications from Xavier in 2003.

Matt McLaughlin - Matt played high school volleyball for Moeller for four years and was a member of the back-to-back 2004 and 2005 State Championships teams.  He then played four years of club volleyball at Saint Louis University before moving back to Cincinnati in December with his English degree.   Matt was the head coach of the Moeller Freshman team this spring guiding them to a 20-5 overall record including a perfect 9-0 GCL record and subsequent GCL title.  Matt has coached for 5 years with the Cincinnati Attack VBC and is entering his 1st year as an assistant coach at Ursuline Academy this fall.  Matt will also begin his teaching career at Moeller High School in August 2009.

Karen Miranda - Karen was an All Conference setter for Div. I Illinois State University and helped lead her team to the first ever NCAA Regional win in 1992, finishing with a season record of 30-3.  Karen has been an Assistant Coach at University of Tennessee and Georgia Tech as well as a camp instructor at Illinois, Notre Dame, St. Louis University, and Washington University in St. Lewis.   Karen has also coached high school and club teams in Missouri and Georgia.

Erin Iceman-Wilson

Alex Hoekstra - Alex was a setter at Lakota East high school where he was a four year starter, three time all-conference, three time all-region, and two time all-state.  He currently attends Mount Olive College where as a junior finished 16th in Division 1 rankings in assists.  Alex also has coached Cincinnati Attack boys volleyball team for three years and attended nationals as a player or coach since 2002. 

Becki Zang

Jill O'Brien - Jill played high school at Western Hills (2 time captain) before playing college volleyball at Marshall University where she was also a 2 time captain. Jill has coached for 10 years which includes coaching at Withrow H.S and St. Margaret of York.  Her SMOY team won 3 city championships between the boys and girls. Jill has played competitive sand volleyball for 25 years and is currently is the Head Coach at DePaul Cristo Rey High School in Cincinnati.  Jill is also a 2012 inductee in the Marshall Athletics Hall of Fame.
